This Egg, Ball and Cube Puzzle Set is a simple, yet timeless toy. It can be given to a child from as early as 7 months. It helps with the development of the palmar grasp (whole hand grasp) as well as the pincer grasp (grasp with the index and thumb).
Begin with the egg cup - your baby might first bang on the egg and cup together, which makes glorious sounds to their ears. Fret not, they are still learning cause and effect even thought the main purpose of the toy is not yet met. Introduce placing the egg into the cup and over time, your baby will put the two together.
Next, introduce the ball cup - this has an added challenge due to the shape of the ball. Your child will need to adjust their grasp to fit the ball into the cup.
Once your child has mastered this, introduce the cylinder block. This is slightly more challenging as your baby will need to place the cylinder into the block at the correct angle for it to fit.
When your child is purposefully using the pincer grasp, you can introduce the pincer grasp cylinder to your baby. Children love practicing this grasp and will be even more delighted when they can fit the cylinder block into the base.
The cube puzzle comes in next - due to the angles on the cube, this puzzle presents a added cognitive challenge for your baby. We recommend this puzzle only after your child has mastered the palmar and pincer grasp so that your child will be able to focus on the cognitive challenge rather than working on the palmar/pincer motor skill at the same time.
